Jiro’s Sushi, located at 32 Kneeland St, Boston, MA, stands out in the bustling sushi scene as a takeaway gem. Customers rave about the quality of their fish, noting its unparalleled freshness and artfully crafted maki and hand rolls. Noteworthy mentions include the spicy tuna maki and the exquisite sea scallops, both perfect embodiments of flavor and texture. Reviewers like Giulia and Thuc Nhan Tran laud the omakase chirashi as a highlight, with its expertly balanced sushi rice complementing the high-quality fish beautifully.

However, diners should note that Jiro’s is a compact space with limited seating, which can make in-person dining a challenge. Despite its modest setup, the flavor-packed dishes justify a visit. Regular clientele appreciate the reasonable prices for such top-tier quality, making it an exceptional value under $200. While some wished for real wasabi to accompany their meal, the overall dining experience at Jiro's evokes a sense of culinary elegance amidst its casual vibe. For a sushi experience that combines freshness, affordability, and flavor, Jiro’s Sushi is an absolute must-try in Boston.

Based on 74 reviews

Jiro‘s Sushi is widely praised for its authentic, high-quality sushi emphasizing fresh fish and carefully crafted flavors. Reviewers consistently highlight the exceptional freshness of the seafood, including standout items like scallops and tuna, paired with well-prepared rice that complements the overall taste. The pricing is frequently noted as very reasonable given the superior quality. However, the restaurant’s small size and limited seating can make dining in a challenge, steering many customers toward takeout options. Service is recognized as friendly and efficient, reinforcing the brand’s reputation for professionalism and attention to detail. Overall, Jiro‘s Sushi is regarded as a top choice for sushi lovers seeking genuine Japanese flavors in Boston.

Absolutely phenomenal sushi! Fish was fresh and delicious, loved the hand rolls and the omakase chirashi. Prices are also quite reasonable for the quality you get. I would definitely recommend to anyone! Only thing the place is a bit small so it might be hard to get a spot to sit and eat it. Besides that, perfection!

New favorite sushi spot in Boston! Everything we got was fresh and artfully crafted! The rice had a nice texture and a subtle umami flavor that complimented the fish perfectly. My favorite piece was definitely the scallops! Inside seat is very limited and a bit crowded with three bar spots, two counter spots, and two table spots.

Literally the best sushi in Boston under $200. I have never been happy with a single sushi place in Boston other than Wa Shin and think this is the second best. The price is ridiculously good for the quality. The place is very unassuming but definitely give it a try IN PERSON (takeout or delivery sushi is never that good). I loved all the spicy rolls (with extra big tempura crunches that add a great texture) and the fresh scallop sushi!

Very excellent quality fish. Wished they gave out real wasabi to accompany the fish though. Highlights for me were their tuna, amaebi, and scallop. Will be back!

Jiro's Sushi is a newer Japanese restaurant located on the outskirts of the main area of Chinatown. The service was efficient and fast, and we got our sushi made quite quickly. The sushi was fresh and tasted good, pretty good for the area. However, the portion size was a bit small for the price in our opinion, and thought bigger portions would've suited the place for the prices they charge. The favorite was the salmon sashimi, since the sashimi was pretty tasty and went well on its own as well as with dipping sauces.

Great food presentation and price for what you get. The whole box of 8 nigiri and a roll only costed ~60 after tax with better quality than other similar restaurants at the same tier. They do a lot of take-out orders but can dine in too. The owner was very nice and went out of the way to help me re-generate the receipt (so I can get it reimbursed for my business trip). I really appreciated it!

The best mid-tier takeout sushi I’ve had in Boston. Nearly walked right past this unassuming spot on my way to Tora (my usual sushi fix), but decided to stop by this spot instead. Initially, I assumed it would be a typical sushi takeout spot, but they’ve gone the extra mile to make it feel somewhat premium—wooden boxes, a good variety of sushi, yet still cheaper than its equivalents at other well-known sushi spots. While the portions weren’t noticeably bigger, I really appreciated how they included nearly ten varieties of sushi in the chirashi don. Not all of them were top-tier quality, but I was impressed to find fatty amberjack, sweet shrimp, and even chu toro. For the Mini Omakase box, the quality was comparable to some of the great-value omakase spots I’ve visited in NYC. My favorite pieces were the shima aji, scallop, and the chu toro. Compared to these two, the salmon ikura chirashi box felt a tad plain, but still worthwhile. They were quite generous with the ikura portions, though the salmon itself wasn’t particularly impressive. Would definitely return for the chirashi box.
